Doesn't sound too hopeful. 5 days in the mountains without gear is very tough. Unless he has survival training and knowledge his changes are not good. If I remember correctly, isn't Mt Rose owned by part of the hunting club on Rt 214?

Unfortunately this story comes with an unhappy ending. The body of Christopher Brennan of Flourtown, Pennsylvannia, 20, was found in the woods off of Anbu Road in the town of Shandakan at 10:15 AM this morning, November 3, 2010. He was found by NYS Forest Rangers.
Christopher Brennan was visiting friends in Shandaken. He decided to take a hike in the nearby wood on Saturday October 30, 2010. When he never returned EMS was called to initiate the search for their friend.
The extensive search was conducted by the NYS Police, Ulster County Sheriff Department, NYS DEC Forest Rangers. SAR from New Jersey and Long Island. SAR dogs. Fire department personnel from Centerville, Phoenicia, Pine Hill, and Shandaken-Allaben. The NYS Police brought in Helicopters for the search.
Police said an intensive search directed by state forest rangers began Monday evening and included state police helicopters and dogs from New Jersey and Long Island Search and Rescue.
His body was transported to the Kingston Hospital in Kingston New York where they will perform an autopsy. The NYS Police believe that his death is accidental.
