On January 10, 2010, Ashland town hall burns down. Also attached the the town hall is the fire department. Damaged or destroyed are four fire trucks and a brand new ambulance. Some historic records were spared. These include marriage, death, etc records. So far, they know that the fire appears to have started at the Supervisor's desk. Rumors are circulating that it might have been started by a small heater under the desk. According to reports, the desk was completely consumed by the fire.

Fire department from over 100 miles away are donating fire equipment to the town. The town does have an old ambulance which they might be able to use. The town has setup shop in a nearby church. They are now getting telephone lines and internet connected.

It is estimated that loses will easily exceed a million dollars. No reports if the town had insurance, or if insurance will cover the damages. In todays day and age, getting insurance companies to pay in a timely manner is pretty much impossible. Most insurance companies like to drag it out for years, and they to pay 50-60 cents on the dollar. In the end, the people of the town of Ashland will suffer greatly because of the fire.

Very sad situation for this small sleepy little town. Might have been one of those little ceramic heaters.

The two deaths from the car accident just down the road was also very sad. Both people were very young. Still have not heard why they drifted into the other lane.
