Description: Santa Cruz Falls gets its name from a bottle of Santa Cruz Rum that was discarded by a group of hunters near the top of the waterfalls. Few people are even aware of these waterfalls. They can be accessed on the east side of the Santa Cruz Ravine, which is on NYS Land, You cannot access the bottom of the Falls because it is on Private Land. You cannot access the top because it is on Private Land. You can get close enough to see it - you just cannot get to the base. Furthermore, there is a dangerous land slide on near the bottom of the falls. Do NOT hike below the land slide. This waterfall is located on Private Land, and you cannot get permission to visit it.
Hiking Distance: 1-2 miles one-way.
Best time to Visit: At low water. You must cross the Kaaterskill Creek, which can only be crossed at low water.

Comments about this Hike

Santa Cruz Falls is a large waterfall on the east side of Twilight Park. It is the only major waterfall within the Santa Cruz Ravine. These waterfalls are located on Private Land. And, you cannot get permission to visit them. You can approach the base of the falls from the east side of Santa Cruz Ravine from the bottom by Kaaterskill Creek. It should be noted that there is a major land side on the east side of Santa Cruz Ravine near the base of the waterfalls. The top AND bottom of the waterfalls is on private land.
